Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, UoN Chancellor.

From March 5 to 7 this year, the C4DLab’s management team, University of Nairobi‘s top administrators and a number of industry players were meeting in Naivasha for a process that would give birth to the lab’s start-up Acceleration Strategy document.

In the process, the University of Nairobi’s Chancellor herself, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, volunteered to be the ambassador and able hand in the running of C4DLab’s strategic affairs.

As a result, C4DLab is poised to benefit from the following forms of support from the Chancellor: the lab will receive support to the tune of 100 million shillings to go towards erecting the C4DLab’s center of operation. In addition, the Chancellor will spearhead a mega fund-raising to initiate and sustain the start-up acceleration programme, which is set to begin no later than end of the year.

The Chancellor will also oversee the institutionalization of C4DLab, upon which it will run as an independent entity, catering to start-up acceleration needs locally and globally. Moreover, among other things, C4DLab should be able to secure valuable partnerships, a process that will be led by the Chancellor and her team of administrators.

Dr. Rattansi’s commitment arose from the urgent and important need for stakeholders to back the lab’s paradigm-shifting and potentially productive start-up Acceleration Strategy.
