The vice chancellor led a delegation of senior members of the University to Israel for a one week exploration and relationship strengthening tour. The focus of the trip was to benchmark with Israel Universities, understand the ingredients that have made Israel excel on innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the trip, the Vice Chancellor and the team from the University which included the Dr. Vijoo Rattansi (Chancellor), Prof. Lucy W. Irungu (Deputy Vice Chancellor- Research, Production and Extension), Prof. Timothy M. Waema (Professor – School of Computing and Informatics), Prof. Bitange Ndemo (Associate Professor – School of Business), Dr. Tonny K. Omwansa (Senior Lecturer and Head of C4DLab), Dr. Kamau Gachigi (Lecturer – Engineering) and Mr. Brian Ouma (Advancement Office) .
Mr. Saul Singer confirmed attendance at the,Nairobi Innovation Week as a Key note speaker to share experiences on building a sustainable Innovation Ecosystem.
The University plans to develop and sign a number of MoUs with a number of organizations in Israel.
Nairobi Innovation Week will be hosted by the University of Nairobi between 5th and 7th of August 2015 at the University graduation square. The event will give the country an opportunity to dialog on how to build Kenya’s Innovation Ecosystem. There will be workshops, exhibitions, paper presentations, policy discussions and panel discussions all focused on Kenya’s Innovation Ecosystem.
The key note presenters, Mr. Saul Singer from Israel and Mr. Langdon Morris from USA will run pre-event workshops on the
3rd and 4th of August 2015.
