The Innovation Week Committee, meeting early this morning at the Vice Chancellor’s office, University of Nairobi, has secured two major sponsorships targeted to assist in successful running of the three-day event slated for August 05-07 this year.

Chaired by Professor Peter Mbithi, UoN Vice Chancellor, the planning committee held a brief meeting today with representatives from both Barclays Kenya and CraftSilicon, who pledged 2.5 and 1.5 million respectively to go towards effective preparations for the historic event to be held once every year at the University of Nairobi.

As Kenyans eagerly await to savor the season’s menu, Dr. Fred Matingi’, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of ICT; Langdon Morris, co-founder and Senior Partner at InnovationLabs and leading consultant on innovation; and Saul Singer, prolific Journalist and co-author of the best-selling Start-up Nation, are the confirmed conference facilitators.

Other attending top-notch authorities on technology and innovation will include Prof. Gituro Wainaina, Ag. Director General, Delivery Secretariat for Kenya Vision 2030; Dr. Wilson Asonga, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development; Dr. Manu Chandaria, a leading Kenyan industrialist and businessman, as well as one Dr. Ellie Osir, Senior Program Specialist for the Information and Networks program at the International Development Research Center (IDRC).
