AMMREC Report 2012: Incubating mobile financial services in Kenya

This report addresses the problem of the low success rate of new mobile financial services (MFSs) targeting various customers. It is informed by the proceedings of the recent  Africa Mobile Money Research international conference (AMMREC2012) held between 2nd and 3rd April 2012 in Nairobi. The conference drew participant from academia, industry, government and development partners. Innovative mobile financial services have the potential of being the ideal vehicle for individual as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs). They are also seen as game changers particularly for people at the base of the pyramid.
